Travels With Arnold

  Summer 09

For some years now, I have had the privilege of accompanying Arnold Muwonge on various ministry engagements, both in the UK and abroad. These times have been interesting, sometimes exciting, but always fruitful!

UK Ministry

Arnold may be invited to speak to one particular church, to a group of churches, or at a conference. Last March, he was asked to speak at a weekend conference organised by the Thanet Prayer Net at the New Life Family Church in Margate. He spoke mainly on prayer but also taught on the subject of ‘The Covenant’. The message was well received, and there was also time for some wonderful prayer ministry.

Arnold also regularly visits a group of churches in the Chester area to give them some encouragement and guidance as they gather together to pray for their city. His ministry here is much appreciated and valued. In Chester, occasionally I have had the privilege of joining with the worship group there to play my trumpet alongside these fine musicians which was a real joy.

European Ministry

On four occasions I have been with Arnold to Belgium - twice to visit the Vineyard Church in Brussels, and twice to spend the weekend in Charleroi at the Eglise Protestante Evangelique de Couillet. The Vineyard Church is English speaking (with simultaneous translation into French) and serves many English people who work in the E.U. plus various international bodies. Many Belgians worship there too, but the Flemish speakers all seem to speak English. Obviously, not needing a translator does enable Arnold’s message to flow more easily, but he still manages very well at Charleroi where everything has to be translated into French. They even manage to cope with his Mancunian accent!

Last July, Arnold was invited to speak at a conference in Normandy. We were well looked after by an English family living in a very old farmhouse. The conference drew evangelicals from many parts of France, but rather surprisingly when Arnold asked for a show of hands from people from the Roman Catholic tradition, around 70% of them raised their hands. They were a very responsive group, and we both had a great time with them.

Destiny Africa Choir

More recently, the UK tour of the Destiny Africa choir from KCC has taken up a lot of Arnold’s time, and this year will see their return to the West as they tour the USA.

It has been a great privilege for me to accompany Arnold on so many of his trips; he’s a good friend and we enjoy lots of laughs together. I look forward to being with him on further trips on the future, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I have of serving God within Arnold’s ministry.
